Implants

Implants are an excellent long-term option to replace missing teeth because they solve the missing tooth problem without harming any other teeth.  Implants have a 96% success rate in a healthy mouth. The success rate decreases in a mouth with uncontrolled periodontal disease, uncontrolled occlusion or a strong bite, uncontrolled diabetes and a smoker.

Dental implants have been around since 1965 and the development and use of implants has been one of the biggest advancements in dentistry because they look, feel and function just like your own natural teeth. Dental implants are mostly compromised of titanium that is compatible with the human body.

What’s Involved?

The implant is surgically placed in the jaw bone, the bone fuses to the implant with a very strong bond in around 2 to 3 months, and then a small connector called an abutment is attached to the implant that provides a foundation to make an implant crown on.

Most of the implant cases we perform at Dental Perfections — over 90% of them — are single tooth replacements. Many times an implant can be placed the same day as the non-restorable tooth is removed.

Why Implants Can Make a Difference

Implants have opened up a whole multitude of options for multiple missing teeth including constructing implant bridges, using implants to securely attach a partial or complete denture to that ultimately increases the quality of life for people. In fact, because people can chew much better with their implant retained partial or complete dentures, they end up wearing out the denture faster because they can chew better.
